I love visiting schools and running creative writing workshops.

Workshops

Assemblies

And more

My workshops are all about the joy of creative writing. I give the children an irresistible prompt that gets their imaginations going. Then I move around the classroom, listening to their ideas, and encouraging those who find writing difficult. Along the way we’ll talk about descriptive writing, adding emotion, and bringing our ideas to life. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss a particular aspect of curriculum or a learning theme.

Along with workshops, I often do assemblies to talk about my own book, or about books and reading more generally. There are few things I like more than enthusing to children about books.

Readings, Q+As, awards, book signings…

Costs:

  • Full day: £300
  • Half day: £150
  • Just an assembly: £50

Note: I don’t want to see children missing out on an author’s visit because budgets are tight. I can do a certain number of visits for free every year, so don’t hesitate to ask!

“Jeremy’s workshop was brilliant. The children really enjoyed the activities and definitely got a lot out of them. He was clearly very knowledgeable and had such a lovely way of sharing his expertise with the children.”

“Jeremy’s workshops throughout school took pupil engagement to a new level. Traditional author visits all together in the school hall have their place, but his close connections with each class will stay with children for a long time. They will always remember the day Jeremy came to visit.
